An electric power steering system on all Vibes helps improve fuel economy while providing improved response.Electronic stability control is now standard on all Vibe models, as are 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. All Pontiac Vibes get a MacPherson strut front suspension the base AWD and GT trims have an independent multi-link rear suspension for enhanced handling, while the base front-drive model has a torsion-beam setup that is tuned for a more comfortable ride. This engine can be had with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive powertrains, as well as a choice of a 5-speed manual or an optional 5-speed automatic transmission. A 2.4L DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine is also available, producing 158 horsepower 6000 rpm and 162 pounds-feet of torque at 4000 rpm. The Vibe is front-wheel drive and comes with a 1.8L DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine, making 132 horsepower 6000 rpm and 128 pounds-feet of torque at 4400 rpm, and mated to either a standard 5-speed manual or optional 4-speed automatic transmission.
